BMYSO-Rohan Cowie Memorial College Scholarship Program

BMYSO is proud to offer a college scholarship available to any High School senior who has in the past, participated in the BMYSO soccer program in one facet or another (i.e. player, volunteer, referee etc..).


The awards available each year will total a maximum of $1,000. The distribution will be $500 to one student and $500 to a second student. Exceptions can be made at Board discretion if the applicant pool does not allow for the default award structure to be used.


All applications will be reviewed and voted on by the BMYSO Board members and notification of the winning application will be done by phone.


The payment of the winning scholarship will be made once the student provides his/her first semester grades to BMYSO.


BMYSO will ask the High School of the award recipients to announce this award at their “awards night” and to include the below note on Rohan Cowie.

Rohan Cowie:
Rohan Cowie was a lifelong resident of Blackstone.  He attended the BMR schools, graduating in 2003. Rohan was extremely active in the BMYSO soccer program, playing in the town leagues from the age of 5 and later with the traveling teams. Sadly, while driving back to the New England School of Communications in Bangor Maine after the Thanksgiving break on 12/1/2003, he fell asleep at the wheel and was killed when his car left the road. Rohan is greatly missed by many people and will always be remembered, not only for his soccer skills but for his smile and social personality.
